It’s been a while since there has been any contribution on
this forum. Honestly, a few aborted attempts have been the most that have happened
since the last post. There probably is no use trying to figure out the reasons
for this, but whatever they are, I guess they can be summed up in a single word
– indifference.
And then I read a book called ‘Life of Pi’. It has been more than nine years since I’ve owned this book and the prospect of a film being made on it finally prompted me to actually read it.
The book won the Man Booker prize for 2002. But for me, the book is a testimony to the power of simply writing. The ability of Mr Martel to project his consciousness into a being and a situation which are so far away from his reality is absolutely and amazingly brilliant. And the book is delightfully ambivalent, not to mention deliciously gripping in the storyline.
Reading this book brought out a stark understanding in me about the power that writing has on the human race. Capturing abstract ideas and giving them shape in the form of ink on paper to create another set of abstract ideas in the mind of the reader is probably the greatest influence that a human being can exert upon another.
Can’t really be sure how good I would be in doing that.

You can. The proof is in your blogs.
Just write. Don't bother about others. Be honest to yourself. Write for yourself.
You should aim to run the Mumbai Marathon in 2014.
