Used to be a time when 'Head in the clouds' would be a term that would describe people who are somewhere lost in their own world. These would be people who are above all the mundane things in life. The Cloud was one thing which was unpolluted and a great place to escape.
Yesterday I was watching Mr Jobs introducing the iCloud. A place where you can store everything in your digital life - documents, music, photos, etc. As much as I respect the man, the organisation he used to head and the incredible machines he has created, I can't help but think how the last bastion of human escape has been finally corrupted. Starting October 2011, the Cloud will no longer be the refuge of the escapists. It will instead be clogged with virtual bits and bytes adding up to zillions, that will be as mundane and ordinary as real life back on earth.
Maybe now 'Feet on the Ground' will be a more practical way to escape.
